Dubai- A Cosmopolitan Culture
Oriental's book production facility based in Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, is
one of the leading business and commercial centres of the region. The journey from here
to Europe cuts some 6,000 miles off cargo routes from the Far East,
enabling us to pass onto our clients the benefits of reduced shipping times and freight costs.
When the Jebel Ali Free Zone was established, the Government of Dubai was
determined that it would be accorded the same importance as every other major
project in the country. With 80% of Dubai's economy dependant on trade, the
Jebel Ali Free Zone represents the positive pro-business attitude of
Dubai.
Jebel Ali Free Zone was part of a vision that was telescopic and all
encompassing. The Free Zone was therefore built around Jebel Ali Port, the most
modern and technologically advanced port in the region--and the largest man-made
port in the world. Jebel Ali is one of the two major terminals operated by Dubai
Ports Authority (DPA), one located in Jebel Ali and the other in Dubai City.
Dubai Port Authority is one of the leading transhipment centres in the
world, with over 150 shipping lines calling at these ports.
It is also ranked amongst one of the leading container ports of the world.
From 2000 to 2001 there has been a 19% increase in container traffic handled at the Dubai
Port Authority.
